New look, better resources...AWRT Houston

Message from the President

Welcome to the AWRT Houston Chapter's portal of information, resources and community contacts.

If you are logging onto the website after a long hiatus or are just stopping by, now would be a great time to sign up as a  site user.  You don't have to  be a member to receive updates from the chapter, register for luncheons, pay for registrations online, get event notifications and learn what's going on with the national organization in Washington, D.C.

Brandy Castille-STANANDLOU Advertising//Marketing and President, Houston Chapter of AWRT:

This is my last message as president of the Houston Chapter of AWRT.  This past year has been marked by many, many successes and diligent hard work from our chapter.  As my tenure as president may expire, my interest in membership has not.  I am very proud to be associated with everyone on the board of not only our local chapter but, other chapters in our state and national chapters.  Everyone I meet through AWRT is committed to doing great work in the organization which translates into a deepening connection within this industry.

I started out as the chairperson for the website committee on our local chapter and each year that a new board was elected, I found a tremendous network of peers unparalleled in what they do next to me.  I cannot thank all of them enough because I have been able to learn from every member of every board that I have ever served on.  Someone may ask, well what did you learn?  My response would be, I will let you know when I quit learning.  I'm sure that's been said before, but it's true.

On May 1st--we held our annual Battle of the Ad Stars.  We had alot of knots to untie throughout the day--but in the name of a good time, we raised alot of money to support our internship and scholarship program, plus money to support the DREAM fund.  Thanks to everyone who was able to attend and participate, especially the winners who fought hard for their trophies.  Congratulations to the winners!

May will be busy for our chapter as we hold our May luncheon on May 14th and have on hand a panel of experts (read it, experts!) who will discuss the upcoming digital conversion.  Do not miss this luncheon as it will be a great opportunity for you to get up to speed on your latest conversion-speak.  Also, we will be inducting our new board for the 2008-2009 term.

Special thanks to President-Elect Sandy Colwell for all you do--I wish you much success in your upcoming presidency and I look forward to continuing to serve on the executive board with you.  You are a true leader in this organization.

There's not alot more to say--one thing that I can tell you that I have learned well is the tried and true KISS method is key to alot of what we do.  So, so long for now!  And thanks to everyone for their support of AWRT--locally and nationally!

If your membership will soon expire or if your renewal notice is waiting in your inbox for attention, you are encouraged to make sure that your AWRT membership is current. Please contact our membership chairperson, Kat Meza at kat.meza@cumulus.com for more information on your membership status.  If you are interested in becoming a new member, please contact Kat for membership information.
