We would like to recognize these individuals again and provide a few photos of our 6th Annual Star Awards and Gala. We also would like to recognize several stars who donated their time or services to make the gala an extraordinary night. We would also like to once again highlight Judy Lakin-Cox Radio who was the recipient of the 2007 Star Award in the Market Manager-Radio category. Congratulations again.
AWRT Empowering America

The Foundation of American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) has developed a Radio PSA campaign entitled Empowering America, that pays tribute to some of the most outstanding American women in history by recognizing their achievements in 60-second Radio PSAs. The spots feature American female icons who have blazed trails in such diverse areas as public service, science, social reform, sports, literature, broadcasting, music and aviation. The spots highlight recognizable individuals as well as women who have made a difference in our world but whose names are relatively unknown.

Empowering America is an inspiring campaign that touches the hearts of listeners and conveys an important oral education in the history of American women. Each vignette focuses on an individual woman by telling in compelling and emotional fashion her personal story of empowerment and success.

As an added component of the Empowering America campaign, The Foundation of AWRT will partner with selected public schools in key American cities to introduce educational resources from this project into those schools.

The “voice” of the Empowering America campaign is entertainment journalist Nancy O'Dell. Entertainment Tonight Co-Anchor Mary Hart voiced the first phase of the campaign.
